下任聯合書院院長遴選公開諮詢會
現任聯合書院院長馮國培教授的任期將於2012年7月31日屆滿，根據《香港中文大學條例》規程九第一段，一個由校長出任主席，並由一名聯合書院校董會代表及聯合書院院務委員會選出的六名院務委員所組成的委員會，將向大學校董會推薦下任院長人選。此外，馮國培教授已連續擔任聯合書院院長十年，根據規程九第三段，馮教授將不能再獲委任。為廣泛諮詢聯合書院教職員、學生及校友的意見，委員會內的聯合書院校董會代表及六名院務委員於二月舉行三場公開諮詢會，詳情如下：教職員公開諮詢會日期：2012年2月13日（星期一）時間：5:00 – 6:30 pm 地點：聯合書院張祝珊師生康樂大樓三樓文怡閣學生公開諮詢會日期：2012年2月14日（星期二）時間：5:00 – 6:30 pm 地點：聯合書院湯若望宿舍禮堂校友公開諮詢會日期：2012年2月25日（星期六）時間：4:00 – 5:00 pm 地點：聯合書院曾肇添樓4樓405室校友室未能出席諮詢會的教職員、學生及校友，歡迎以Facebook：http://www.facebook.com/UC.next.Head 或透過聯合書院院務主任李雷寶玲女士（電郵： christina-li@cuhk.edu.hk ）表達意見。
Consultation Forums on the Appointment of Next Head of United College
The current term of office of Professor Fung Kwok-pui as Head of United College will expire on July 31, 2012. In accordance with paragraph 1 of Statute 9 of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Ordinance, a Committee under the Chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor and consisting a representative of United College Board of Trustees and 6 Fellows elected by the Assembly of Fellows, shall recommend to the University Council the appointment of the next College Head. Moreover, in accordance with paragraph 3 of Statute 9, Professor Fung has served as Head of United College for three consecutive terms with an aggregate period of ten years and is not eligible for re-appointment. In order to get the feedback and comments from staff, students and alumni on the appointment of next Head of United College, the representative of United College Board of Trustees and 6 Fellows in the Committee organize three consultation forums with all staff, students and alumni in February. 署理院長任命
院長馮國培教授於2012年1月26日及27日休假，上述期間由副院長兼通識教育副主任張雙慶教授出任署理院長。
Appointment of Acting Head
Professor Fung Kwok-pui, College Head, was on leave on 26 and 27 January 2012. Professor Chang Song-hing, Associate College Head and Associate Dean of General Education, was the Acting Head during the period.
四川大學訪問聯合書院
四川大學成春教授率領的訪問團於2012年1月10日到訪本院，由副院長兼通識教育主任余濟美教授及助理院務主任陳文軒先生接待。
Sichuan University Visited United College
The delegation of Sichuan University, led by Professor Cheng Chun, visited the College on 10 January 2012. Professor Jimmy C M Yu, Associate College Head and Dean of General Education, and Mr Tony M H Chan, Assistant College Secretary, received the delegation.
美育發展計劃：藝術中與西——人物畫(一)

Programme for Aesthetic Development : Art East and West Seminar—Portrait (I)
Dr Cheung Wai-yee, Senior College Tutor and Part-time Lecturer of the Department of Fine Arts, CUHK will offer seminars on Art East and West. Development of portrait in the country will be studied, with highlighting the characteristics of portrait in Jin, Tang, Qing Dynasty and modern drawings. 書院聚會──「邁進地球村系列」學生活動分享會
聯合書院於2012年1月20日上午十一時三十分假大學邵逸夫堂舉行書院聚會，並邀請曾參與下列「邁進地球村系列」學生活動的同學作分享：北京清華大學薪火計劃暑期文化及英語課程──牛津大學哈福特學院美國首都華盛頓考察團加州大學柏克萊分校暑期外地學分進修計劃各組同學以相片及影片分享他們在行程中的得著和感想，台下同學反應熱烈。在書院時間環節中，院長馮國培教授歡迎書院在2011-2012年度新任命之「書院資深導師」，包括馮潤棠教授、吳仁德教授及徐孔達教授。同時，院長馮國培教授致送致賀狀予榮獲「2010年度校長模範教學獎」的醫學院李詠恩教授，以及榮獲「2010年度青年學者研究成就獎」工商管理學院王叢教授、教育學院謝志成教授及理學院劉仁保教授。
College Assembly—“GOAL Programme” Sharing by Students
A sharing session by students who had participated in the following activities under the “GOAL Programme” last year, was held at 11:30 am on 20 January 2012, at Sir Run Run Shaw Hall: “Pass-it-on” with Tsinghua University Culture and English Language Programme at Hertford College, University of Oxford, UK Travel Study Programme to Washington, DC Area Non-local Credit-bearing Summer Studies Scheme at University of California, Berkeley The presentations, with photos and video clips, as well as what the participants have learnt and reflected in the trips, were well received by the audience. At the College session of the Assembly, Professor Fung Kwok-pui, College Head, welcomed the 2011-2012 newly appointed Senior College Tutors, Professor Fung Yun-tong, Professor Ng Yen-tak and Professor Tsui Hung-tat. Congratulation certificates were also presented by Professor Fung to the recipient of the “Vice-Chancellor’s Exemplary Teaching Award 2010”, Professor Vivian W Y Lee of the Faculty of Medicine, as well as recipients of the “Young Researcher Award 2010”, including Professor Wang Cong of the Faculty of Business Administration, Professor Tse Chi-sing of the Faculty of Education and Professor Liu Renbao of the Faculty of Science.
雲淡風輕──陳之藩教授文物特展
由香港中文大學聯合書院、工程學院及台灣國立成功大學合辦的「雲淡風輕──陳之藩教授文物特展」，現於香港中文大學聯合書院胡忠多媒體圖書館二樓舉行，展期為2012年1月14日至2012年3月13日。本行是學電機工程的陳之藩教授，1955年離開台灣負笈美國，1957年獲賓夕法尼亞大學碩士學位，之後再獲英國劍橋大學博士學位。1977年在麻省理工學院擔任客座科學家，同年於聯合書院電子學系出任講座教授暨系主任，總共七年。2000年起擔任前身為電子學系的中大電子工程學系榮譽教授。陳之藩教授是優游於文學國度的科學家，也是涵泳於科學世界的文學家。他早年以《旅美小簡》、《在春風裏》、《劍河倒影》等一系列著作飲譽文壇，文章還選入香港和台灣的中文教科書，影響了幾代香港和台灣讀者，後來國內教科書也收錄其文章。為表揚陳之藩教授對書院各方面的貢獻並展示其文學成就，特舉辦是次展覽。展覽開放時間如下：星期一至五 8:20 am – 10:00 pm 星期六 8:20 am – 7:00 pm 星期日 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm 如有查詢，請致電3943 1844/ 3943 7455與學生輔導處高榮銘先生或楊頌妍女士聯絡。
Documentary Exhibition of Professor Chen Chih-fan
Documentary Exhibition of Professor Chen Chih-fan, co-organised by United College, Faculty of Engineering and National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, is now held at 2/F, Wu Chung Multimedia Library, United College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The exhibition period is from 14 January 2012 to 13 March 2012. Trained as an electronic engineer, Professor Chen Chih-fan left Taiwan to study in the US in 1955 and received his MS degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1957 and his PhD from the University of Cambridge in 1971. In 1977 he was a visiting scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and came to United College to serve as Professor of Electronics and chairman of the department for seven years. From 2000 onwards, he served as Honorary Professor of the Department of Electronic Engineering. Professor Chen is a scientist travelling the realm of literature and is an essayist roaming the world of science. His essays, which have been collected in Chinese textbooks in Hong Kong and Taiwan, have inspired generations of Hong Kong and Taiwan readers. Recently his essays were also collected in textbooks in China. An exhibition has been organised in recognition of Professor Chen and his significant contribution to the College with achievement in literature.
