鑒於近日於多個亞洲及歐洲國家爆發H5N1禽流感,世界各地對人類被受感染之關注也日益增加。世界衛生組織已呼籲各國做足準備工作,而注射預防流感疫苗則是預防流感之最有效方法。 In view of recent outbreaks of H5N1 avian flu in different Asian and European countries, there is growing concerns over the threat of a potential human influenza pandemic. The WHO has called for countries to get prepared. Influenza vaccination is one of the effective means in preventing 'ordinary influenza' and its complications.

The inactivated influenza vaccination includes the following three items for the 2005 season:

  • A/NEW CALEDONIA (H1N1)
  • A/CALIFORNIA (H3N2)
  • B/SHANGHAI

Frequent mutation of the genes encoding the surface glycoproteins, especially for influenza A virus, leads to the emergence of new subtypes that are responsible for epidemics or pandemics.
