Abstract

  • Since 2013, uReply (a set of campus-wide mobile-ready tools developed for active learning), has not only attracted growing popularity among teachers at CUHK, but has also been used by teachers in many sister institutions.
  • The TDLEG application is for funding the operational and developmental work in the next 2.5 years.
  • Operationally, resources are needed to sustain the uReply service for healthy running which involves continuation of the data-centre rental, purchases of additional servers to support growing users and growing storage as well as to phase out some of the older servers. Online resources such as demonstration videos and user guides will be made and updated. To disseminate good practice, regular workshops will be held and a monthly newsletter will be published. Consultations will be conducted to assist individual teachers to use the tool especially in their first few attempts. Research work will be conducted with an extended focus that is on the actual teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Developmental work includes: 1) further refinements that enhance usability; 2) the making of a course-level structure that would lead to a set of new course-related functions such as course-level resources and reports; 3) a new group learning work-flow that enables teachers to form student groups and convert the present uReply activities into group-based activities; and 4) a public question bank for teachers to share their questions created, even at inter-university level.
