袁博平博士簡歷

袁博平博士，英國劍橋大學漢語及語言學高級講師、劍橋邱吉爾學院院士兼東方學主任。袁博士中學畢業後在中國青島一家工廠當木工，一九七八年考入煙臺師範學院（現魯東大學）英語系。畢業後曾在中國高校從事英語教學工作。袁博士於一九八六年考入上海交通大學應用語言學研究生班；一九八八年獲英國文化委員會獎學金赴英國愛丁堡大學學習；一九八九年獲應用語言學碩士學位；一九九三年獲語言學及應用語言學博士學位。自一九九二年起，袁博士在劍橋大學工作，教授漢語及語言學，指導本科生、碩士生和博士生有關語言學和二語習得方面的論文。他在國際學術刊物上發表過多篇論文，並在一些國際學術刊物擔任編委。他目前是世界漢語教學學會副會長。

Biography of Dr. Yuan Boping

Dr. Boping Yuan is Senior Lecturer in Chinese Language and Linguistics at the University of Cambridge, and Fellow and Director of Studies in Oriental Studies, Churchill College, Cambridge. He became a worker in a carpentry workshop in China after his secondary school, and was among those first groups of people who entered universities when universities re-opened in China after the ten-year Cultural Revolution. He read English language and literature as an undergraduate at Yantai Normal University (now Ludong University) from 1978 to 1982. Then he taught English as a foreign language in universities in China. In 1986, he entered Shanghai Jiaotong University and did postgraduate studies in Applied Linguistics. In 1988, he got a scholarship from the British Council to study at Edinburgh University, where he first studied for an M.Sc. in Applied Linguistics and then for a Ph.D. in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. In 1992, he came to Cambridge, where he has been teaching Chinese language and linguistics and directing the modern Chinese language programme. He has supervised BA, MPhil and PhD dissertations on Chinese linguistics and second language acquisition, and has published numerous papers in refereed international journals. He has been serving on editorial boards of a number of international academic journals and is currently Vice President of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching.
