Sustainability in action!
United College - Reducing carbon footprint together
Committed to sustainable practices, reduction of carbon footprint and the enhancement of campus environmental quality, United College has adopted various environmental friendly measures since joining the Green Office Programme (GO!). With the collective efforts of the College’s members, the College has made a difference! A sample of green practices are shared below:

Extension of Organic Farm
In order to meet College members’ growing interest in organic farming and to promote green lifestyle, works have been performed to extend the organic farm and increase the number of fields from 16 to 25.

Take the stairs and less energy use
Notices have been posted beside the lift on each floor in academic buildings and Cheung Chuk Shan Amenities Building to encourage staff and students to take the stairs instead of the lifts.

Switch off the socket after office hour and during long weekend
Copiers and printers in the Dean of Students’ Office would be switched off after 7pm during working days. All main sockets and switches would be turned off before long weekends. Notices have been posted to facilitate colleagues to carry out the measures.
