Greetings!

We hope you had a rejuvenating Winter break and are ready to kickstart an exciting and productive 2024! In this edition of our newsletter, we are thrilled to share with you some updates, including new tools, grants, and support services for enhancing your eLearning experience.

Let's begin with a few reminders to help you get started:

  • Teaching with Tech Overview and Learning with Tech Overview presentations: The two presentations provide a comprehensive overview of technologies available for enhancing teaching and learning experiences. A few highlights:
    • Classroom Internet Connection: Step-by-step User Guide;
    • Blackboard: (i) Set Course Availability - Remember to open your Blackboard course for student access; (ii) Enrol TA using CUHK User Management Tool; (iii) Reuse Blackboard Course (use 'Copy links and copies of the content' for 'Course Files'); (iv) New AI Features in Blackboard Ultra;
    • Classroom Recording: (i) When using Panopto for recording, ensure the upload has been completed before closing the recorder software.  Alternatively, can use ZOOM for recording and Panopto for sharing the recordings with students and tracking recording view statistics; (ii) Videos that are not viewed in 24 months will be archived.

Technology plays a pivotal role in today's educational landscape, and keeping up with the latest tools is essential for both educators and learners. That's why we are pleased to introduce you to a range of new tools that are designed to make your eLearning journey even more engaging and interactive.

Funding plays a vital role in advancing your educational projects. We encourage you to consider applying for the funding schemes that align with your initiatives.

  • More Funding Schemes administered by AQS

We have many exciting events planned for the upcoming semester.

  • "Generative AI Insights (GAIN) 2024 - Transcending Abstract Concepts to Tangible Impacts" conference, organised by the Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research (CLEAR) and co-organised by the Knowledge and Education Exchange Platform (KEEP) on Jan 10, 2024 (Wednesday)
  • Stay tuned for more events!

As always, our support team is here to help you with any technology-related issues you may encounter throughout the academic year. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you need assistance.

We also would like to take this opportunity to share Dr Clayton R. Wright's list of Educational Technology & Education Conferences Edition #50 with you. We would like to express our special thanks to Clayton for his kindness in allowing us to redistribute the list.

We look forward to working with you in the coming months.

Early Feedback Collection System (2023-24 Term 2)

  • Early Feedback Collection System is designed to capture student feedback on individual classes in the middle of the study term to complement the end-of-term Course and Teaching Evaluation (CTE) exercise.  Students will be asked to provide feedback on the following two questions regarding satisfaction with the courses:

             (a)  What are the best aspects of the course so far?
             (b)  Which aspects are most in need of improvement so far?

  • The system will be opened for feedback collection from 1 to 7 February, and for teachers to review the reports from 9 to 19 February 2024.
  • You are invited to (i) encourage students to provide their feedback during the feedback collection period, and (ii) review the reports during the report review period and, where appropriate, to follow up on any feedback for your course(s).
