With effective from 1 June 2001, The Hong Kong Domain Name Registration Company Limited ("HKDNR") will replace JUCC to administer the Hong Kong Network Information Centre ("HKNIC"). It will assume the responsibility of registering Internet domain names ending with com.hk, org.hk, gov.hk, edu.hk and net.hk; before a future membership-based body is established to make policy and administer Hong Kong Internet domain names. Before 1 June 2001, the current operation will still be run under the current policy. However, there will be some special arrangement to secure a smooth transition.
Please also note that if you have been requested to send us document for verification of new application, you have to send us the document and application form before 9:30am 30-May-2001. Otherwise, you have to follow the new procedures set by HKDNR to apply for the name on or after 01-Jun-2001. Though the official deadline for new application processed under the current policy is 30-May-2001. We most highly recommend applicants to send application before 9am of 28-May-2001. If we request document for verification or the application form needs to be amended, applicants can still re-send forms and send the documents to us before 9:30am of 30-May-2001. Otherwise, applicant will probably be forced to re-apply for the domain name through HKDNR during or after the sunrise period. Other recommendations during the transition period:
Please also note that all the domain names registered under the current policy need to be re-registered with HKDNR including those registered in May 2001. For any enquiries about the new policy and sunrise period, please refer to HKDNR's web site http://www.hkdnr.net.hk or send your enquiry to enquiry@hkdnr.net.hk. Thanks for your kind support over the years. Last Update: 8-May-2001
