A Field of Hope: The Stories of Hong Kong Plant Scientists

In year 2000 a team of plant scientists from four Hong Kong universities was awarded an Area of Excellence (AoE) grant to research on plant and agricultural biotechnology, with a field of dreams to strive for excellence at the international level and for the food security and nutritional well-being of people in Hong Kong, China and beyond.? The project has been supported for the last 10 years for its excellent performance, leading to the establishment of a national level State Key Lab of Agrobiotechnology in 2008.? In this lecture, I shall recount the inspiring stories of these scientists, now advancing in a field of hope to realize their dreams.

在希望的田野上：香港植物科學家的故事

2000年，香港四間大學的植物學家團隊，獲得卓越學科領域基金的資助，研究植物及農業生物技術，追求國際卓越水平及香港，中國以至世界人民糧食保障及營養提升的夢想。因成績卓然，此項研究在過去十年獲得持續資助，在2008年更獲准成立國家級的農業生物技術國家重點實驗室。本講座將回顧這隊植物科學家令人鼓舞的故事及在希望的田野上，追求他們夢想的實現。
