Outgoing visit: CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute and Dapeng Field Visit

A delegation led by Prof. Samuel SM Sun, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology (CUHK) visited CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute on 18 Dec 2012. The delegation met with the heads of administrative departments including Ms. Luo Jieli, General Administration Department Manager, Mr. Zhang Rong, Finance Manager and other administrative members of CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute (SZRI). In the meeting, Prof. Zhang, PI of the Peacock project innovation team, gave a presentation on the latest development of Peacock Project and the SKL Shenzhen Base, outlining the building up of necessary infrastructures in terms of human resources and research facilities and the latest accomplishments, in particular, the successful award of the "Shenzhen Engineering Laboratory for Vegetable Molecular Biotechnology" by the Shenzhen Government under the strong support of the SKL and SZRI.

In the afternoon, led by Prof. Zhang, the delegation had a working meeting with Mr. Pan Jiadong, Member of Committee of China Communist Party Shenzhen Dapeng New Area Working Committee, and Secretary of Shenzhen Dapeng New Area Discipline Inspection Working Committee regarding the establishment of the vegetable field station at Dapeng. After the delegation placed a site visit to the Dapeng field station, the team visited the production site of a “Super-Agricultural Docking” station which established an effective system to channel vegetable directly onto the shelves in supermarket.

These visits not only enhanced the communication of the team with the Shenzhen Dapeng New Area Working Committee, but also provide a good foundation for formulating the future development direction of the project particularly in the area of vegetable breeding.

 

農業生物技術國家重點實驗室(香港中文大學)出訪中文大學深圳研究院及大鵬新區

農業生物技術國家重點實驗室(香港中文大學)一行9人包括主任辛世文教授、張建華教授、黃蔭成教授、郭殿京教授、于為常教授、何軍賢教授、林文量教授、廖佩珊博士及傅麗杭女士出訪中文大學深圳研究院（深研院），與綜合管理部部長羅潔麗、財務主管張榮等一眾深研院主要行政人員會面，瞭解深研院的行政運作。會上，孔雀計劃農業生物技術創新團隊帶頭人張建華教授向與會人員介紹了孔雀計劃及農業生物技術國家重點實驗室深圳基地的最新發展，概述了計劃在人力資源和研究設施方面的基礎設施建設，與及計劃的最新成就，包括在國家重點實驗室及深研院的大力支持下，成功獲深圳市政府批准成立深圳市“蔬菜分子生物技術工程實驗室”等。

下午張建華教授帶領代表團到訪大鵬新區, 與中共深圳市大鵬新區工作委員會委員兼中共大鵬新區紀檢工作委員會潘家棟書記進行有關位於大鵬的蔬菜種植場事宜的工作會議。隨後代表團除了參觀大鵬蔬菜種植場外，更到訪同樣位於大鵬的一所“農超對接”種植基地，考察其農產品規模化生產並對接超市的有效機制。

是次訪問不單促進與大鵬新區工作委員會的有效交流，更為制定未來發展方向及蔬菜育種計劃的具體規劃定下良好的基礎。
