Second Induction Ceremony of
The Chinese University of Hong Kong Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma and the Awards Presentation Ceremony of Faculty of Business Administration, CUHK


The Faculty of Business Administration of the CUHK had its grand function on 18 March 2001 - the Second Induction Ceremony of the Chinese University of Hong Kong Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma and the Faculty's Awards Presentation Ceremony.

Professor Japhet S. Law, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, addressed almost 300 participants, including honourable guests, awardees and their parents, principals and teachers of mother schools.  Prof. Law said, "It has been the Faculty's mission to develop managerial and business talent in Asia.  The establishment of the Chinese University of Hong Kong Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma and the introduction of Dean's Lists aimed to recognize students' outstanding academic achievement while the Student Service Awards to acknowledge students' services to the Faculty.”

Founded in 1913, Beta Gamma Sigma is an international honour society based in the United States that recognises outstanding academic achievements of students enrolled in collegiate business and management programmes accredited by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business – International Association for Management Education (AACSB-IAME).  Its mission is to encourage and reward scholarship and accomplishment among students of business and administration, to promote the advancement of education in the art and science of business, and to foster integrity in the conduct of business activities.  Its current membership of 400,000 comprises the brightest and best of business leaders.

At the Second Induction Ceremony of the Beta Gamma Sigma (CUHK Chapter), Chapter Honouree Awards were conferred to Dr. Chow Chi-kin Cyril (Head of Customer Marketing of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited in Hong Kong); and Dr. Law Cheung-kwok (Chief Economic Advisor of the Hong Kong Policy Research Institute and Principal Consultant of Mutual Partners (HK) Limited), upon their outstanding business and managerial leadership.  In addition, two faculty, forty-five graduate and sixty-nine undergraduate candidates were inducted into membership in Beta Gamma Sigma.

Concurrently held was the Awards Presentation Ceremony of the Faculty.  100-odd awardees of Dean's List (1999/2000) and twelve awardees of Service Awards (2000/2001) were invited to receive certificates at the stage and won the applause from the guests.
