Mechanical shearing is the most common method for nucleic acid fragmentation prior to library preparation for next-generation sequencing. The Covaris E220 Evolution can precisely and accurately shear DNA and RNA to the 100-1500bp range or 2-5kb range when using with the corresponding Covaris tubes. This is a self-service equipment after adequate training. Service for DNA fragmentation is available as well.

Bench space and basic equipment are provided for library preparation in Room 306 at Cancer Centre. Users are welcome to set up their experiment there.
