Canada's Minister of State (Public Health) visited CEID
The Honorable Carolyn Bennett, Canada's Minister of State (Public Health) visited the Stanley Ho Centre for Emerging Infectious Diseases on 8 August, 2005.
The delegation held a meeting with the school of Public Health, followed by a tour of the School and the Centre. Professor Kenneth Young, Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University, welcomed the Minister and introduced her to the range of activities of the University. The roles of the Medical Faculty and the School were introduced by Prof TF Fok, Dean of the Faculty and Prof Sian Griffiths, Director of the School respectively. A round table discussion was conducted with the participation of Prof SS Lee, Acting Director of CEID, Prof Clive Cockram, Prof David Hui, Prof Paul Chan, and other staff members of the University, focusing on the prevention and control of communicable diseases. There was keen interest in further strengthening ties on academic and professional fronts between Hong Kong and Canada.
