This was a territory-wide study that recruited newborns in birthing hospitals, infants attending Maternal and Child Health Centres, students attending preschools, kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, vocational schools and universities, as well as individuals in the community.

Obtaining a truly representative sample for the study is not likely due to the lack of sampling frames for some age groups and/or practical difficulties. We used random sampling methods to select participants/study sites wherever practicable.
The study was launched in late 2019 and needed to respond to different restrictions and requirements during the COVID-19 outbreak. The study data collection finished in 2022.
Body measurements were taken including weight, length/height and head circumference, physical fitness measures where applicable and collected health related data with a self-completed questionnaires.
