Buxiaosheng 不肖生 [pen name of Xiang Kairan 向愷然] 1889-1957

Bu was born in Pingjiang, Hunan, and was thus also known as Pingjiang Buxiaosheng 平江不肖生. He was interested in writing and martial arts since childhood. After finishing his engineering degree in Hunan, he went to Japan twice for further study. The first time he neglected his studies and visited brothels frequently; the second time he studied law and became a prolific martial arts novelist. His works include Jianghu qixia zhuan 江湖奇俠傳 [Marvellous gallants of the rivers and lakes] and Jindai xiayi yingxiong zhuan 近代俠義英雄傳 [Chivalric heroes of modern times].
