Wang Pu (Wong Pok) 1950-

A prolific writer of literary studies, essays, novels as well as short stories, Wang Pu was born in Hong Kong. She was taken back to mainland China by her parents in 1951, where she received her education and experienced the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976). In 1988, Wang graduated from East China Normal University in Shanghai with an M.A. in comparative literature. Settling back in Hong Kong in 1989, she worked in the editorial section of several newspapers and taught at Lingnan University before she became a full-time writer.
