Zhou Bangyan (Chou Pang-yen) 1056-1121

Song-dynasty poet. In 1083, after presenting a fu [rhymed prose] to the throne, he was appointed to the position of Chief of Learning in the National Academy and held office for the rest of his life. He is known as one of the most important poets of the ci [song lyric], ornate in his diction, allusive in his expression and sophisticated in his musical sense. He also wrote shi poetry and prose.
