Su Tong Ĭ [real name Tong Zhonggui Q] 1963-

Su is a best-selling writer in China. He entered the Department of Chinese at Beijing Normal University in 1980, and has been publishing short stories and novels since 1983. Su first achieved international fame when his novel Qiqie chengqun dcs [Wives and concubines] was adapted into the award-winning movie Raise the Red Lantern by Zhang Yimou i in 1991. Many of his works have been translated into English and won awards both at home and abroad, among which are Mi [Rice] and Hean e [The boat to redemption].
