Xie Fangde ÁªD±o 1226-89

A native of Yiyang in present-day Jiangxi, Xie obtained his jinshi degree in 1256. Appointed to various local positions towards the end of the Southern Song era, Xie led resistance in Jiangxi against the Yuan Mongols. He starved himself to death, refusing to surrender to Yuan authority after being captured and moved to the capital Beijing. His poems and other writings are collected in Dieshan ji [Collected works of Xie Fangde].
