Ye Shengtao [real name Ye Shaojun] 1894-1988

Modern writer. Born in Suzhou, Ye had published more than ten stories in the classical language before the beginning of the May Fourth Movement in 1919. In 1921, he was involved in the founding of the Literary Association and began working as a teacher. In 1923 he became an editor at the Commercial Press, thus beginning a long involvment with the publishing world. He is famous for his many volumes of short-stories and has also been praised for his autobiographical novel Ni Huanzhi (1928).
