Project Site #13 : Badi Village, Jinjiang Town, Shangri-La City, Yunnan

       Badi Village, Jinjiang Town, Shangri-La is located in the mountainous land beside the Jinsha River. It is about 180 kilometers away from Shangri-La City and 120 kilometers away from Lijiang City. Transportation is convenient. Most of the villagers are Lisu people. Fews are Tibetan and Han.

       The houses in Badi Village are scattered in the mountain valley. Grazing is the main source of income for the villagers. There are traditional buildings built in earth, wood, and stones which are locallly available. After the introduction of the new seismic rammed-earth construction technology given by the team, over 10 households expressed their interest to participate in the reconstruction plan.

Nov 2020 - 1st Investigation Trip

Sep 2022

Construction work for 17 houses was completed with final acceptance by the team in Sep.

Aug 2022

14 houses were built and 3 houses were under renovation work.

Mar 2022

Project progress was slowed down again due to limited commute caused by road repair work. The team expects the project shall be completed by the end of July.

Feb 2022

7 houses were conducting interior renovation work and 3 houses were under rammed earth construction.

Aug 2021

Until Aug this year, 8 households had completed rammed earth construction work, 3 households were under rammed earth construction, 5 households had completed foundation work, and 1 household was under foundation construction. However, due to the heavy rain and repeated impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, construction progress was slowed down. After the rainy season, the team and the villagers will put more effort to complete the project as early as possible.

The construction work for five households is expected to finished by the end of May.
