Project Site: Binggu Township, Miyi County, Panzhihua City, Sichuan

        As Sichuan Province is located in the earthquake zone, officials from Miyi County have a strong interest in learning more about seismic rammed-earch construction technology. They have visited the 1U1V earth house project sites several times and have planned to promote this construction technology in their jurisdiction. In addition, there are more than 1,000 Yi immigrants in Miyi County, many of whom live in remote mountainous towns and villages. Most of their houses were purchased from local Han people, and due to their economic condition and cultural level, they don't have experience in building houses. As a result, the earth houses there were in poor condition and the structure is damaged. The Miyi County Housing and Urban-rural Bureau has decided to solve the housing problem of this group of Yi immigrants and has taken anti-seismic rammed-earth villlage house building as an important development direction. Now the Suganri household has been chosen as a demonstration project in this region, with the hope that this construction technology can be extended to a wider range. In addition, a women construction team will be trained to learn the anti-seismic rammed earth construction methods.

Jul 2022 A university student called Chen Wenjiang who returned to his hometown to start a business, got in touch with the team through the introduction of the local officials. He self-organized the local villagers to demolish the old house and built a brick tobacco house and a new rammed earth house next to it.

Sep 2022 Trained and guided by 1U1V skillful craftman, the main construction work was completed.

Mar 2019 - 1st Investigation Trip In early Mar, the team carried out an investigation trip to conduct preliminary survey for the household and visited other households to understand general situation of the village. Please click here to see the relevant work report (in Chinese version only)

Jul 2019 In early May, the team started the construction work (including froundation and earth wall building work) and conducted on-site training. Until 17 July, all construction work was completed.
