Project Site: Xiaohe Village & Xialapu Village, Wama Township, Baoshan City, Yunnan

       Wama Township is located in the northwest of Baoshan City, about 180 kilometers away from Baoshan City. It covers an area of 192 square kilometers and has a population of 11,000. 80% are ethnically Bai, Yi and Miao. It is a remote alpine mountainous area. The grain crops are mainly corn, and economical trees such as walnuts, tung trees and plums are planted. There are medicinal materials and wild animal resources. The team hopes to build some anti-seismic rammed earth buildings to improve their living conditions.

Dec 2021 - 1st Investigation Trip

Ramming work for the collective house started and expected to be completed by the end of Dec.

Aug 2022

4 households completed construction and awaiting for acceptance. However, 4 original registered households withdrew from the plan due to personal reasons. The team discussed with the local government and changed to build a collective house with local contractor in Xialapu Village to improve the housing need of lonely elderly villagers, and rent out the spare rooms to the families with children who have a long way to go to school at low price.
