In the past 10 years of rural construction research and practice, we have accumulated a lot of experience and research results in rural construction and sustainable development Our practical projects have also received well-known professional awards at home and aboard, including UNESCO Heritage Jury Innovation Award, Terra Award, The Green Building Award.

In response to the earthquake disaster, "1U1V" team launched a village rebuilding assistance programme in Quangming Village of Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province in collaboration with Kunming University of Science and Technology and Cambridge University in October 2014. The team planned to study and practise a new anti-seismic rammed earth house construction technology. Two anti-seismic rammed earth demonstration houses were successfully built for the local villagers. The project also allow the villagers to realize that rammed earth building can not only utilize local materials, provide warmth in winter and coolness in summer, and be environmentally friendly with low-carbon emissions, but also fully retain the regional cultural characteristics. With the help of simple tools to improve technology and design of rammed earth construction, it can greatly improve the seismic performance, provide spatial variety, good ventilation and lighting, and ultimately result in a low-cost livable architecture.
