Studying human beings is different from observing events in physical world, and sociology shouldn't be seen as like natural science in direct way. Unlike objects in nature, humans are self-aware beings who confer sense and purpose on what they do. We can't even describe social life accurately unless we first grasp concepts that people apply in their behaviour. For instance, to describe death as suicide means knowing what person in question was intending at time. suicide can occur only when individual has self-destruction actively in mind. Someone who accidentally steps in front of car and is killed cannot be said to have committed suicide.
