本院第四十三屆學生會幹事會選舉已於二月二十一日至二十四日進行投票，並於二月二十五日下午二時在院長馮國培教授、輔導主任劉行榕教授、院務主任戴朝明先生及學生會選舉委員會主席陳韻祺同學監察下於「學休」進行點票。是次選舉共有571位同學投票，佔學生會會員總人數百分之二十三點五。其中對唯一候選內閣「聯成一線」投信任票者共547人，投不信任票者11人，投棄權票者13人，另廢票6張。結果「聯成一線」順利當選，由三月一日起正式出任第四十三屆學生會幹事會。新幹事會成員名單如下：

United College Student Union News
The 43rd United College Student Union Executive Committee election was held from 21 to 24 February 2005. The ballots were opened and counted on 25 February 2005 at 2:00 pm in the College’s Student Common Room under the supervision of Professor K P Fung, Head of College; Professor Alaster Lau, Dean of Students; Mr C M Tai, College Secretary and Miss Chan Wan Kei, Chairperson of United College Student Union’s Elections Committee. A total of 571 students (23.50%) had cast their votes in the election. “United Frontier”, the only cabinet standing for election, was elected the 43rd United College Student Union Executive Committee by 547 votes to 11, with 13 abstentions and 6 invalidated ballots. The newly-elected office-bearers have assumed office on 1 March 2005. Their names and positions are as follows:

團體照將於胡忠圖書館與曾肇添樓間之梯級拍攝，請各系老師及畢業班同學屆時踴躍出席。參加者請於上列指定拍照時間十分鐘前到達胡忠圖書館前集合，逾時不候。
The photo-taking session for MB ChB will be held 6 May 2005 at 11:30 am.
Staff and students taking part are requested to assemble in front of the Wu Chung Library for their respective photo-taking sessions ten minutes before the scheduled time. Late-comers will not be entertained.

澳洲昆士蘭大學交流團 聯合書院將安排二十名同學於二零零五年六月到澳洲昆士蘭大學參加為期三星期的交流活動。參加同學並可透過不同形式的活動如講座及研討會，探討全球化的問題對澳洲的影響及香港社會可借鑑的經驗。期間同學將被安排入住於當地家庭，以親身體驗澳洲生活及風俗人情。

United College Summer Study Tour
Study Tour Programme at the University of Queensland Theme: Confronting Globalisation: Australian Experiences and Challenges for Hong Kong The College will organize a 3-week study tour programme at the University of Queensland in June 2005 under the theme as “Confronting Globalisation: Australian Experiences and Challenges for Hong Kong”. Students are expected to engage in an active and interactive 3-week program based on lectures, workshops, fieldwork, seminars and presentations and to work in teams to investigate an aspect of globalisation and its impacts on an Australian institution and its members throughout the three-week period.
WTO and Economic Development in Shanghai The College will organize the second study tour on “WTO and Economic Development in Shanghai” from 25 May to 3 June 2005. Through attending seminars by local officials and alumni and visit to government departments and agencies, students will study the changes to and the prospects of economic environment in China associated with its entry to the World Trade Organization.

書院為鼓勵同學籌辦具創意的活動，特設「創意學生活動獎」供本院同學或學生團體申請。計劃目的在於1) 鼓勵學生或學生團體籌辦優質活動；2) 提高學生及 學生組織的積極性；及 3) 推動學生積極投入校園生 活。 是項計劃現正接受申請。歡迎聯合書院學生會認可的學生團體或本院同學以個人或小組名義申請。申請表格及計劃書可於二零零五年三月十九日(星期六)或以前向書院輔導處遞交。 得獎人或單位將獲得不超過港幣兩萬元的資助，作為籌辦該項活動的經費。開支實報實銷。得獎個人或團體須向書院呈交活動及財政報告。

Creative Student Activity Award Programme Now Opens for Application
To encourage students to organize new or creative activities, the College has established the Creative Student Activity Award Programme since 2002. The aims of the programmes are: 1) encouraging students or student bodies to organize quality activities; 2) encouraging students / student bodies to be more active in organizing activities; and 3) promoting students’ participation in College life.
The Programme for 2005 is now open for application. Students of United College or student organizations registered with the United College Student Union are eligible to apply. Interested parties should submit the applications and activity proposals to the Dean of Students’ Office on or before 19 March 2005.
The winning students or organization(s) will be awarded up to HK$20,000 of subsidy for organizing the programme. A detailed activity and financial reports must be submitted to the College upon completion of the programme.
This award programme is funded by the United College T C Cheng Memorial Fund. Application forms are available at the Dean of Students’ Office or from the College homepage. For further information contact Mr George Lam or Ms Kitty Ho on 2609-7570.

書院為鼓勵學生團體積極服務同學，每年特設「全年最佳學生團體獎」。本年度的獲獎團體是在二月十七日舉行的學生會聯席會議上經學生代表推選產生，結果由聯合書院國術會奪得，獎金為港幣一萬元。獎項安排於三月十八日舉行的書院聚會中頒發，書院謹致衷心祝賀。

2004-2005 the Best Student Organization of the Year Award
Aimed at encouraging student bodies to improve their delivery of services to its members and fellow students, the College established The Best Student Organization of the Year Award. In the Student Union joint meeting held on 17 February, the student representatives nominated the United College Chinese Martial Arts Society to be the award winner this year, and the award will carry a cash prize of HK$10,000. The Chinese Martial Arts Society will receive this award in the College Assembly to be held on 18 March 2005, our heartily congratulations!

二零零四至二零零五年度聯合書院獎學金頒授典禮
本年度書院獎學金頒授典禮已於二零零五年三月十一日假湯若望宿舍禮堂舉行。是日蒙香港中文大學協理副校長兼教務長蘇基朗教授蒞臨主禮，並蒙多位校董及捐獎者撥冗親臨觀禮。此外亦有校友、大學及書院同仁及家長等近二百人到賀，場面十分熱鬧。典禮後於教職員餐廳舉行茶會及拍照留念。（獲獎同學名單請見附件四）

College Scholarship Presentation Ceremony 2004/2005
The 2004/2005 Scholarship Presentation Ceremony was held on 11 March 2005 at the Hall of Adam Schall Residence. The guest of honour, Professor So Kee Long Billy, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor and Registrar of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, addressed the gathering. Also gracing the Ceremony were members of the College Board of Trustees and scholarship-donors. A tea reception was held following the Ceremony. About 200 participants, including staff, parents and friends of scholarship-recipients, shared the joy of the day.

1. 招聘暑期工作人員 本院學生宿舍將於二零零五年六月至八月期間開放予外界及學生團體租用，現擬招聘學生助理兩名，協助接待及管理工作。申請表格可往輔導處索取，截止申請日期為二零零五年三月三十一日。查詢請致電2609 7574與胡太或潘小姐聯絡。
2. 2005/2006年度學生住宿申請 2005/2006年度聯合書院學生宿舍申請表格於三月十五日起開始派發，同學可於辦公時間內往書院輔導處索取或在書院網頁下載（ http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/forms/forms.html ）。填妥之申請表須於二零零五年四月十五日前送達聯合書院輔導處，逾期申請將不獲處理。

1. Recruitment of Student Coordinators for Summer Residence The College’s student hostels will be open for rental to outside groups and student societies during the summer vacation of 2005. Students interested in working as summer residence coordinators please apply to the Dean of Students’ Office. The closing date is 31 March 2005. For inquiries, please contact Mrs Wu or Ms Poon at 2609-7574.
2. Applications for the 2005/2006 regular term residence Application forms for the 2005/2006 regular term residence in the College’s student hostels are available at the Dean of Students’ Office, United College from 15 March 2005. They can also be downloaded from the College website ( http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/forms/forms.html ). Completed application forms should be submitted to the same office on or before 15 April 2005. Late applications will not be considered.
3. Applications for Summer Residence Applications for this year’s summer residence in UC student hostels will open on 1 April 2005. For further details, please refer to the College notice-boards or approach the Dean of Students' Office. Applications close on 30 April 2005.

United College Mentorship Programme 2005/2006
Applications are now
invited for the United College Mentorship Programme 2005/2006. This
programme is jointly organized by the College and the Alumni Association and
supported by a generous donation from Mr Shum Choi-sang, Chairman of the
College Board of Trustees. It provides an opportunity for alumni and
undergraduates of the College to interchange through sharing of life and
learning experiences. The Programme is designed to help students improve
their interpersonal and communication skills, develop their social awareness
and broaden their knowledge base. The programme will also recruit overseas
mentors to provide support to students who have planned to take up exchange
programmes during the year.
