Post Specification

Applicants should have a PhD degree in chemistry, preferably in inorganic/ organometallic/ bioinorganic chemistry. All research areas will be considered.

The appointee will (a) teach undergraduate and postgraduate inorganic chemistry and other chemistry courses, including advanced courses in his/her specialty; (b) conduct/supervise undergraduate chemistry laboratory classes; (c) capitalize on the well-established infrastructure in the Department for independent research in his/her field of expertise; (d) serve as a research supervisor of postgraduate students in MPhil/PhD programme; and (e) participate in the administration of the Department.

All teaching/thesis/documents are conducted in English. The Department is prepared to provide the appointee with suitable start-up funding for his/her research. Opportunities for annual application of research funding on a competitive basis are available in Hong Kong.

Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.

Monthly Salary and Fringe Benefits

Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including medical care, a contract-end gratuity for appointments of two years or longer, and housing benefits for eligible appointee. Annual salary ranges for Assistant Professorship: from HK$740,520 to HK$955,440. For Associate Professorship: from HK$955,440 to HK$1,218,480.
