Biography of Mr. Alessandro De Pedys

Having graduated from the University of Rome in Economics in 1986, Mr. De Pedys joined the Foreign Service in Italy in 1989. In 1992, he was sent by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to serve abroad as Head of the Economics Department in the Italian Embassy in Seoul, Korea. In 1996, he was posted as First Secretary to the Italian Embassy in London, where in 1999, he was confirmed as Counsellor. Returning to Rome in 2000, he was responsible for press and political affairs at the Information Services Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was then appointed as Deputy Chief of Delegation for the organization of the Italian Presidency of the European Union in 2002. From 2004, he served in the Office of the Diplomatic Counsellor to the President of the Italian Republic and was awarded the honour of Commendatore dell'Ordine al Merito della Repubblica in the year that followed. He assumed his duties as Consul General of Italy in Hong Kong and Macau on 12 February 2007.
