OAL services assure a successful international management conference

Co-hosted by CUHK, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), and the University of Hong Kong (HKU), the 2016 Strategic Management Society (SMS) Special Conference Hong Kong was held at CUHK during 10-12 December 2016. As one of the most prestigious international conferences in the field of strategic management, it attracted around 300 academics and students from around the globe to exchange research ideas and findings under the conference’s theme: ‘Contextualising Strategic Management in Asia: Institutions, Innovation and Internationalisation’.

The Office of Academic Links (OAL) provided its expertise in international events management to the Department of Management at CUHK, one of the local hosts of the conference. OAL supported the event by coordinating the event’s logistics, ranging from the arrangement of venue, accommodation, catering and transportation to the design and production of printing materials, onsite decoration items, conference bags and souvenirs, as well as on-site support. Attendees of the conference reflected that it was one of the best conferences they have ever attended, which was immensely successful in facilitating networking and the formation of research partnerships.

In support of the University's internationalisation efforts to strengthen its global presence and to develop academic and research partnerships worldwide, the International Events Team at OAL will continue to assist academic and research units in organising conferences on campus. To support the organisation of conferences, subscribers of OAL’s events management services will receive a financial subsidy of 50% of the service fee (capped at $20,000) provided by the Academic and Professional Conference Fund.
