Prof. Rocky Tuan receives first international visitor from the University of Sydney

A few days after his assumption of office, Prof. Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, welcomed the leader of one of the University’s key partners and most distinguished in Australia, Prof. Michael Spence, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Sydney (USyd). CUHK and USyd have been partners since 2006, engaging in both student and faculty mobility, and research collaborations in medicine, environmental policy and economics, law, migration, digital media, sports science, and public health. In addition, collaborations are forged through the Worldwide Universities Network and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities. Most recently the two universities have been exploring collaboration in planetary health, with a multidisciplinary focus on urbanisation of China.

To continue and build on the momentum of the partnership, a CUHK-USyd Collaboration Fund will be launched to support new research initiatives of strategic importance between members of the two universities. A MOU for the joint fund was signed by the two vice-chancellors during the visit. More details of the fund will be announced in the next few months.
