聯合書院邁進地球村系列——出發前簡介會
超過一百名參加了「聯合書院邁進地球村系列2009」的同學出席於2009年3月13日舉行的出發前簡介會，本年度部份計劃包括: 「暑期法語及文化考察團」、「暑期西班牙語及文化考察團」、「荷蘭烏特勒支大學暑期課程」、「美國首都華盛頓考察團」及「暑期外地學分進修計劃」。
各項計劃的顧問包括：社會學系王淑英教授、書院學生交換計劃委員會主席陳錦泰教授、港美中心夏龍教授、語言學及現代語言系左麗女士及倪俊傑先生向參加同學講解課程內容及出發前的準備等事宜。院長馮國培教授及書院輔導長王香生教授亦到場鼓勵同學，積極參與出外學習的計劃，拓寬眼界。 |

United College GOAL Programme―Pre-departure Briefing Session
Over one hundred students attended the pre-departure briefing session of the College Globe-Oriented Active Learning (GOAL) Programme 2009 on 13 March 2009. The Programmes include: "French Culture and Language Programme at Lyon, France", "Spanish Culture and Language Programme at Barcelona, Spain", "Summer Programme at Utrecht University, The Netherland's", "Travel Study Programme to Washington, DC area" and "Non-local Credit-bearing Summer Studies Scheme".
Advisers of the Programme including Professor Wong Suk-ying, Department of Sociology, Professor Chan Kam-tai, Chairman of the College Student Exchange Committee, Professor Glenn Shive, Director of Hong Kong America Center, Ms Christele Joly and Mr Nicolas Arriaga Agrelo from Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages gave presentation to the participants about the programme details and pre-departure preparation. Professor Fung Kwok-pui, College Head, and Professor Stephen H S Wong, Dean of Students, attended the briefing session and encouraged United College students to actively participate in the overseas learning opportunities and broaden their horizon. |

本院同學於四院國際演講會比賽奪獎
崇基學院、新亞書院、逸夫書院及聯合書院的國際演講會於2009年3月14日(星期六)假邵逸夫夫人樓G35合辦首屆中大四院國際演講會演講比賽。本院國際演講會會長禤柏衡同學(英文/二)代表聯合書院國際演講會參加即席演講比賽，奪得冠軍。另本院國際演講會會員黃家耀(計量金融學/三)代表聯合書院國際演講會參加國際演講比賽，奪得亞軍。

United College Students Won Awards in CUHK Toastmasters Inter-College Contest
Chung Chi College, New Asia College, Shaw College and United College Toastmasters Clubs jointly organised the first ever CUHK Toastmasters Inter-College Contest on 14 March 2009 (Saturday) at G35, Lady Shaw Building. UC students, Mr Antony P H Huen (ENG/2), President of the club won the Champion in Table Topic Contest, while Mr Steve K Y Wong (QFN/3), member of the club gained the 1st runner-up in the International Speech Contest.

Applications for the 2009-10 Regular-term Residence
Application forms for the 2009-10 regular-term residence in the College's student hostels are available at the Dean of Students' Office, United College from 1 April 2009. They can also be downloaded from the College website. Completed application forms should be submitted to the same office on or before 23 April 2009. Late applications will not be considered. |

Student Campus Training and Service Award Scheme for 2009-10
Applications are now invited for the first-round allocation of the UC Student Campus Training and Service Award Scheme for October 2009 (7/2009–6/2010). The Scheme aims to provide financial award to UC students and to help them gain some working experiences. Application materials will be dispatched to College members on 15 May 2009. The 2006 Class Society of the College is going to organise a Graduation Dinner for the 2009 graduates on Thursday, 14 May 2009 at 6:30 pm at Lower Patio, level 7, Harbour Plaza Metropolis Hotel, Hung Hom. "United College Dinner"
The third United College Dinner of this year was held on 30 March 2009 in the College Student Canteen. About 40 staff and students from the Faculties of Engineering and Social Science attended the Dinner. Mr Chan Yat-ping and Mr Wong Lung of the Hong Kong Astro Forum gave a talk during the dinner on the topic of "Starry Night". |

第四屆聯合書院馮國培院長盃
「第四屆聯合書院馮國培院長盃」從水運會和陸運會作序幕後，隨後一連串的球類比賽已於2009年1月開始舉行。該項大型運動比賽是由聯合書院四個宿生會及兩個走讀生舍堂間之比賽，項目包括男子籃球、女子三人籃球、足球、排球、羽毛球、乒乓球各網球。經過多番熱烈的比賽後，今屆總冠軍再由恒生堂蟬聯，以六十一分成功衛冕，湯宿以四十八分獲得亞軍，季軍得主為是獲得四十一分的陳宿及秉芬。各項比賽成績如下：

The 4th United College Fung Kwok Pui Cup
Following the United College Annual Swimming Gala and Athletic Meet, the 4th United College Fung Kwok Pui Cup continued to be held from January 2009. This grand competition was competed among four student hostels and two non-residential halls. The competition events included Men's Basketball, Ladies' 3 on 3 Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis and Tennis. After three months' exciting competitions, the Hang Seng Hall won the Overall Champion again. They scored 61 points from 9 events. The 1st Runner-Up was Adam Schall Hall and the 2nd Runners-Up were Chan Chun Ha Hostel and Ping Fan Hall.

由書院主辦的「院長師生交流：院政校政事務」座談會於2009年3月31日(星期二)下午4時30分至6時20分假聯合書院伯利衡宿舍地下大廳舉行。活動由院長馮國培教授主持，並由書院輔導長王香生教授陪同，會上的主要交流內容包括大學校園發展的交通安排及校巴服務、書院學業優異獎學金的準則、書院「邁進地球村系列」(學生交流)的進展、大型學生活動撥款的籌委預支安排、和校園及宿舍節省開支的討論等。 |

Head and Students Views Exchange―College/University Affairs Series
Organised by the College, the "Head and Students Views Exchange – College/University Affairs" activity was held on Tuesday, 31 March 2009 from 4:30 pm to 6:20 pm at the Common Room, G/F, Bethlehem Hall of United College. The session was chaired by Professor K P Fung, College Head, and accompanied by Professor Stephen Wong, Dean of students. Matters covered in the exchange session included the transportation and shuttle bus arrangements in the Campus Master Plan, criteria of the College's academic scholarships, progress of the College's GOAL Programme (exchange activities), pre-payment by student organizers in the large scale student activities and possible savings in the College campus and student hostels. |

書院聚會
2009年3月20日上午，書院假大學邵逸夫堂舉行「書院聚會」，蒙香港金融管理局副總裁余偉文先生擔任演講嘉賓。余先生以「展望香港作為國際金融中心的路向」為講題，和同學分享。問答環節之中，同學們反應熱烈。當日有一千三百多位同學出席。
在講座前，書院進行了致賀狀致送儀式。院長馮國培教授致送「致賀狀」予以下得獎人： - 機械與自動化工程學系劉雲輝教授(在2009年以「多指機械手抓取技術與視覺伺服控制系統」研究榮獲電機及 電子工程師學會推選為院士) - 統計學系陳毅恒教授 (在2009年榮獲香港統計學會頒授為「榮譽會員」)- 教育心理學系張雷教授 (「2008-09年 度通識教育模範教學獎」得獎人) - 書院通識教育課程兼職導師Tessa Stewart女士 (「2008-09年度通識教育模範教學獎」得獎人) |

College Assembly
In the College Assembly held on 20 March 2009 morning at Sir Run Run Shaw Hall, the College was honored to have Mr Eddie Yue, Deputy Chief Executive Hong Kong Monetary Authority, to be the guest speaker. Mr Yue delivered a speech on the topic "Looking beyond the Financial Crisis: Hong Kong's Future Role as an International Financial Centre". The speech was well received by over 1,300 students attending the Assembly and some of them interacted with the speaker in the "Question and Answer" Session.
In the "Award Presentation" session, congratulation certificates were presented to the following awardees by Professor Fung Kwok-pui, College Head: - Professor Liu Yun-hui from the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, Elected Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) with the research project "robotic multi-fingered grasping and adaptive visual servo systems" in 2009 - Professor Chan Ngai-hang, Professor of Statistics, Department of Statistics, Recipient of "Honorary Membership" by the Hong Kong Statistical Society in 2009 - Professor Chang Lei from the Department of Educational Psychology, Awardee of the Exemplary Teaching Award in General Education 2008-09 - Ms Tessa Stewart, part-time instructor of the College General Education Programme, Awardee of the Exemplary Teaching Award in General Education 2008-09 |

書院儲物箱
由於學期即將完結，畢業班同學盡快清理儲物箱內所有物件，並在2009年5月15日前於辦公時間內，前往書院學生輔導處辦理交還儲物箱鎖匙及領回按金的手續。大學會計部將安排按金轉帳至各同學之銀行戶口。逾期仍不辦理者，本院將清理箱內物件及沒收按金。

Lockers at United College
All final year United College students holding lockers at United College are required to return the locker keys and complete the deposit refund process at the Dean of Students' Office during office hours on or before 15 May 2009. Locker deposit will be credited to your bank account by the Bursary in due course. Failure to return the locker key after the above deadline will result in your deposit being forfeited and articles inside the locker removed and disposed of.
