United College Star-gazing Activity In order to provide students with opportunity to learn more about astronomy, United College is going to arrange a star-gazing activity at Tai Mei Tuk, Tai Po. The star-gazing activity will be led by Mr Wong Lung, former-chairman of the Sky Observers' Association (Hong Kong) and Mr Tong Kwok-wah, an experienced member of the Hong Kong Astronomy Society. 學生宿舍2009至2010年度住宿期終結 2009至2010年度學生宿舍宿期將於2010年5月31日（星期一）中午12時終結，各宿生須於當日中午12時前遷出宿舍，已與舍監作出特別安排者除外。宿生須將鑰匙交回宿舍詢問處，填妥「退還宿舍按金表格」後，連同過戶銀行存摺印有戶口號碼之內頁副本一併於退還鑰匙時交予宿舍負責人，或於2010年6月11日前交至書院學生輔導處。逾期交回表格者，按金將不予發還。 |

End of 2009-2010 Hostel Residence The regular-term hostel residence for 2009-2010 will end at 12:00 noon on Monday, 31 May 2010. All residents should check out by then unless prior arrangements have been made with the wardens. Residents should return their keys to the hostel enquiry counters. For hostel deposits refund, residents should complete the application forms obtainable from the enquiry counters of their hostels and attach a copy of the page of their bank account passbooks for autopay purposes. Documents should be returned to their respective hostels together with the room keys. Alternatively, the said documents can be submitted to the Dean of Students' Office before 11 June 2010. Late applications will not be entertained. |

Protection Society - Recycling Programme for Residents Moving out of the Hostels United College Environmental Protection Society (UCEPS) and Christian Action will co-organise a charity recycling programme for residents moving out of the hostels. Date: 12 May 2010 (Wed) to 31 May 2010 (Mon) Locations: Adam Schall Residence: Ming De Mural, G/F, Cheung Chuk Shan Amenities Building Bethlehem Hall: Lobby of the hostel Chan Chun Ha Hostel: Lobby of the hostel Hang Seng Hall: G/F of the Hostel Items Collected: clothings, stationery, books (except textbooks and magazines), small domestic electronic appliances,domestic utensils, etc. All residents are encouraged to support this environmental friendly initiative. |

Wi-Fi Access Extends to UC Student Hostels Beginning from this semester, CUHK has extended its Wi-Fi coverage to Adam Schall Residence and Chan Chun Ha Hostel. Residents can now enjoy Wi-Fi access in their hostels. Further installation of Wi-Fi access points in Bethlehem Hall and Hang Seng Hall has also begun and will be completed in July 2010. United College Summer Jazz Dancing Class In order to promote healthy school life and encourage students to participate in sports activities, the College is going to hold a Summer Jazz Dancing Class from 18 May to 15 June 2010. Details are as follows: Date: 18/5(Tue)、25/5(Tue)、28/5(Fri)、1/6(Tue)、4/6(Fri)、8/6 (Tue)、11/6(Fri)、15/6(Tue) Time: 4:30-6:00 pm (Tue) and 5:00-6:30 pm (Fri), 1.5 hours per lesson, total 8 lessons Fee: $100 (Full refund for full attendance; $50 refund will be given for attendance rate over 70%) Quota: 30 The activity is recognised by the “United College Mr Fung Sun Kwan Whole Person Development Award Program”. Student Campus Training and Service Award Scheme for 2010-2011 Applications will be invited for the first-round allocation of the UC Student Campus Training and Service Award Scheme for 2010-2011 (7/2010–6/2011). The Scheme aims to provide financial award to UC students and to help them gain some working experiences. Application materials will be dispatched to College members on 14 May 2010. United College Supported Arts and Cultural Activities A total of 130 United College students participated in the Friend of Art and Student Cultural Ambassadors programme organised by the Office of the Arts Administrator, CUHK. In order to encourage students proactively engaged into arts and cultural activities, United College specially provided extra grant to subsidize more College students in these programmes. |

College Cantonese Debate Team Won Champion in the Pentagonal Debate Competition in 2010 The University’s Pentagonal Debate Competition final match was held on 16 April 2010, the two finalist teams were the United College Cantonese Debate Team (pro) and the GPA Team (against). The motion was “Hong Kong Government should lower the threshold of compulsory sale for redevelopment of old buildings”. Both teams performed excellently and shared the champion title of the year. United College Students Won Champion of the Joint University Radio Play Competition College students, Mr Ho Lut-him (PAC/2), Mr Sin Chun-hong (BBA/2) and one team member won the Champion and Most Creative Award of the Joint University Radio Play competition co-organised by Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority and 903 radio station by a play named “MP3F?”. United College Student Won Eighth Runner-up of the 15th “21st Century Cup” National English Speaking Competition College Students, Mr Huen Pak-hang, Antony (ENG/3) participated in the 15th “21st Century Cup” National English Speaking Competition organised by 21st Century English Newspapers of China Daily in Guangzhou on 10 April 2010. Under keen competition of about 60 outstanding rivals from all over the country, Mr Huen Pak-hang won the eighth runner-up in the final competition. |

2010年書院畢業同學惜別會 聯合書院本年度的畢業同學惜別會已於2010年4月20日假邵逸夫堂舉行，逾八百名聯合同學出席。惜別會由2007年級社《心聯社》主辦，以短片形式輯錄了同學在書院生活的點滴。參與惜別會的同學更以手指燈排列成「UC」字樣，象徵書院的團結精神。 |

2010 Graduation Class Farewell Assembly A Farewell Assembly organised by the 2007 Class Society to farewell the graduates was held on 20 April 2010 at Sir Run Run Shaw Hall. More than 800 students attended this assembly. At the assembly, video clips of memorable moments were shared. Students attending the assembly also used flashlight to form the characters “UC” to symbolise the College team spirit. |
