College Orientation Camp

The 2010-11 College Orientation Camp organised by the Student Union was held from 25 to 28 of August 2010. The theme of this year was ¡§United Saga¡¨. The Orientation Camp aimed at helping the freshmen to define and understand the role of university student, so as to better prepare for their undergraduate studies. It was hoped that each of the freshmen would help in compiling the legend of United College by gaining their unique experiences and having their own stories in their undergraduate studies in United College. In the 4-day camp, senior students guided the freshmen to experience College life, explore their potentials, and to build their sense of belonging to the College. The Orientation Camp was well-attended by 412 local and 55 mainland students (for the first and the third day). The number of participants has significantly increased. The College would like to extend thankfulness to Professor Joseph C Y Sung, Vice-Chancellor and Mr Raymond Y C Leung, Director of Student Affairs Office in attending the opening ceremony of the camp on 25 August 2010. The College also appreciated the effort of the Orientation Camp Organising Committee in making the event a success.

Interested students should apply in person during office hours at the United College Dean of Students' Office on 2/F of Tsang Shiu Tim Building from 9 to 30 September 2010. Since only a limited number of lockers are available, loan requests from hostel residents or students who have been assigned lockers in their respective departments will not be entertained.

The loan regulations are as follows:

1) A deposit of HK$50 per locker is required. Applicants should   pay the deposit via HSBC or Hang Seng Bank ATM to The
Chinese University of Hong Kong (293-005005-001). Please bring the ATM Customer Advice when making the application.

2) The lockers must be kept clean at all times and no valuables should be kept inside.

3) A locker may be on loan to a student up to 31 May of his/her year of graduation. However, the College may stop locker     service at any time by giving one month notice.

4) Before returning the locker to the College, the student is       responsible for cleaning the locker and returning the key in   person to the UC Dean of Students' Office. Deposit will be   refunded autopay.

5) Deposit will be forfeited if the locker key is lost. If they wants to continue to use the locker, he/she has to reapply and pay the deposit again.
¡@

6) Failure to return the locker keys upon the expiry of the loan period will result in the deposit being forfeited. Articles inside the locker will be treated as found properties.
