The Watoto Children's Choir, consisting of children orphaned by AIDS or the war in Uganda, re-visited the Chinese University and sang at Ho Sin Hang Hall, S.H. Ho College, on the evening of 29 February. The soulful blend of native African rhythms and ethnic dance impressed some 700 members of the audience, including Prof. Joseph J.Y. Sung (5th right, below), Vice-Chancellor, Mrs. Sung (6th right), Prof. Sun Sai-ming Samuel (4th left), Master of S.H. Ho College, Mrs. Sun (3rd left), Mr. David Chan (an alumnus and a donor of the I．CARE Programme) and his family (1st to 3rd right) who rose to their feet and danced along with the music.

由非洲乌干达爱滋及战乱遗孤组成的Watoto儿童合唱团重临中大，于2月29日晚上在善衡书院何善衡馆献唱。充满动感的非洲节奏和舞蹈，带出感恩积极的胸怀，台下逾七百名观众深受感染，纷随音乐舞动，当中包括沈祖尧校长伉俪（下图右五及六）、善衡书院院长辛世文教授伉俪（左三及四 ）、中大校友及I．CARE博群计划捐助者之一陈力旋伉俪及其女儿（右一至三）。

-中大六科研项目荣获国家教育部高等学校科学研究优秀成果奖　为本港院校之冠

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) received six Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards (Science and Technology) from the Ministry of Education (MoE) in 2011, including three first-class awards in natural sciences, two first-class awards and one second-class award in technology advancement, making it the institution receiving the highest number of awards in the local tertiary sector. The award presentation ceremony was held today (29 March) at the Lecture Theatre of Shaw College, CUHK. Dr. Zhou Jing, Deputy Director-General of the Centre for Science and Technology Development of the MoE, was invited to Hong Kong as the prize presenter. 

香港中文大学（中大）于国家教育部颁发的2011年度高等学校科学研究优秀成果奖（科学技术）中，共获六项殊荣，包括三项自然科学奖一等奖、两项科技进步奖一等奖及一项科技进步奖二等奖，获奖的项目为本港院校之冠。颁奖典礼今天（3月29日）于中大逸夫书院大讲堂举行，国家教育部科技发展中心副主任周静博士亲临香港担任颁奖嘉宾。

-Teachers The Largest Share Among Local Institutions
-中大二十三名优秀学生获颁教育局“准英语教师奖学金”
-获奖人数为全港院校之冠

Twenty three outstanding students of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) have been awarded the Scholarship for Prospective English Teachers 2011/12 by the Education Bureau of the HKSAR Government, accounting for the largest share of the total 50 awards available to students of various local tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. The award-receiving CUHK students come from three programmes related to English training or teaching, including English (5 students), English Studies and English Language Education (12 students) and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (6 students).

香港中文大学（中大）共二十三名优秀学生获颁香港特别行政区政府教育局第二届“准英语教师奖学金”，囊括近半数奖学金名额，成为获得最多奖学金名额的院校。获奖的中大生分别来自三个英语培训相关的全日制课程，当中五名主修英文、十二名主修英国语文研究及英国语文教育，另六名就读学位教师教育文凭课程。

-CUHK Law Students to Debate the Future of International Law at World’s Most
-Prestigious Mooting Competition in Washington DC
-中大法律学院学生出征华府　迎战国际法模拟法庭比赛

A team of law students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) are heading to Washington DC for the world championship rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. CUHK won the right to represent Hong Kong after winning the regional qualifier against teams from The University of Hong Kong and City University of Hong Kong.

香港中文大学（中大）法律学院一队学生正积极备战，准备前往美国首府华盛顿，代表香港参加Philip C. Jessup国际法模拟法庭比赛国际赛。中大代表队早前于香港区选拔赛中，成功击败香港大学和香港城市大学两队队伍，获得出线资格。

-Outstanding Students Awarded Scholarships
-优异生获奖助学金

Three students each from the School of Architecture and the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care have been granted this year’s Hong Kong Housing Society Award. Officiated by Mr. Marco Wu, vice-chairman of the society, the presentation ceremony was held on 11 February.

建筑学院和赛马会公共卫生及基层医疗学院各有三位学生获颁本年度香港房屋协会奖助学金，颁奖典礼于2月11日举行，由该会副主席邬满海先生主礼。

-CUHK Student Wins French Speech Competition
-法语副修生勇夺演讲比赛冠军

Yasmine Zahir (Law, Year 4), a French minor in the Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages, triumphed in the French Speech Competition over 12 students from universities in Hong Kong, Guangdong and Guangxi held on 25 February. The contest was co-organized by the French Consulate of Hong Kong and Macau, and the Association of French Teachers in Hong Kong and Macau. The theme of this year was 'Le Delta de la Riviere des Perles, porte de la Chine (The Pearl River Delta as the Door of China)'. Yasmine was awarded a fully-sponsored three-week language immersion course in Nancy, France.

语言学及现代语言系法语副修课程学生Yasmine Zahir（法律学院四年级），在2月25日举行的粤港大学生法语演讲比赛中，击败十二名来自珠江三角洲，包括香港、广东和广西等地优秀大学的参赛者夺得冠军。是次比赛由法国驻港澳总领事馆及港澳法语教师协会合办，比赛的主题为“珠江三角洲─中国之门”。Yasmine获得全数奖学金赴法国南锡参加为期三周的法语课程。

Prof. David C.L. Liu, William Mong Honorary Chair Professor of Computer Science, Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, and Sir Run Run Shaw Distinguished Visiting Scholar 2011–12, spoke on ‘A College Student of the 21st Century: Educated and Civilized’ at Shaw College on 8 February.

台湾清华大学蒙民伟荣誉讲座教授刘炯朗教授应邀出任2011至12年度邵逸夫爵士杰出访问学人，并于2月8日假逸夫书院大讲堂主持讲座，讲题为“二十一世纪的大学生：教育和教养”。

-Women's Squash Team Wins Two Consecutive Championships
-女子壁球队蝉联大专杯冠军

The CUHK Women's Squash Team defeated players from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to clinch the championship of the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong Cup on 25 February.It took the best of three games to win the match. Miss Leung Shin-nga (Sports Science and Physical Education, Year 3) of CUHK team won in the first game. Miss Mak Pui-hin (Chinese Medicine, Year 2), playing in the second game, lost to her opponent's aggressive and physical play in the first two sets. Having taken advice from her coach, Mr. Chan Chi-ming, instructor of Physical Education Unit (PEU), and cheered on by Mr. Lo Yuen-cheong, director of PEU, her teammates, players’ parents and alumni, Pui-hin played with calm and confidence, and started to control the pace and adjust her tactics. She then won over her counterpart in the following three sets to capture the trophy for CUHK.

中大女子壁球校队于2月25日击败香港理工大学，卫冕“大专杯”壁球冠军。 赛事以三盘两胜决胜负，中大梁善雅（体育运动科学系三年级）先拔头筹胜出首场。接着由麦佩轩（中医学院二年级）出战，但首两局不敌对方强悍压迫及体力化的打法而落败，经教练体育部导师陈志明先生提点，以及在场的体育部主任卢远昌先生、队友、亲友和校友打气后，沉着应战，调整节奏及策略，连赢三局反胜，终助中大队摘下冠军奖杯。

-New Asia / Yale Student Exchange Programme
-新亚书院／耶鲁大学学生交流活动

The theme of this year’s exchange is “Capitalism and Society”. Professor Sidney Cheung from the Department of Anthropology led eight New Asia student representatives to visit Yale University from 21 January to 5 February 2012. Our students also visited New York City and Washington D.C. Yale students are paying a reciprocal visit to our College from 4 to 17 March 2012.

本学年耶鲁与本院学生交流活动主题为 “资本主义与社会”, 人类学系张展鸿 教授率领本院八位同学于一月二十一日至二月五日访问美国耶鲁大学，与耶鲁学生 交流两地资本主义与社会问题，顺道访问纽约 及美国首都华盛顿。耶鲁大学学生则于三月四日至十七日回访本院。

-2011年信息工程学甲等荣誉毕业
-现于加拿大麦吉尔大学修读计算机科学硕士课程

眨眼间，四年就这样过去了。漫步在校园里的百万大道，经过新亚名景天人合一，心里不禁泛起感慨万千。毕业之际，既有喜悦，也有伤感。我时常在想，能在如此美丽的校园里学习，实在是我的福气。

四年前，我成为为数不多的幸运儿之一，获得由陈先生赞助的纳贤内地生奖学金，支付我在香港中文大学里的学习费用。在中文大学这个中西结合的学府殿堂中，在香港这个活力无限的国际舞台上，我不断地充实和历练着自己，不断得到提升与进步。因此对于四年前的那个契机，心里是充满着无限的感激。

毕业之后，我会去加拿大麦吉尔大学继续自己的计算机科学的硕士学习。我在2010年的时候也去过加拿大的渥太华大学里作学术交流，非常喜欢加拿大的自然风光与人文环境。这次能够重回加拿大，自然少不了中文大学对我四年的熏陶。这里再次对陈先生以及中文大学表示感谢。

-内地招生Q&A

问：	内地学生第一年是在甚么地方上课的？有没有委培？
答：	内地学生四年课程都在香港中文大学上课。

问：	教学语言是否全为英语？
答：	香港中文大学一直以中、英双语并重为教学原则，重视两文三语。校内大部分教师曾在世界各地大学攻读或任教，多兼通中、英两种语文。学生若能掌握普通话和英语，上课应不会有困难。

问：	什么是书院制度？
答：	香港中文大学是本港唯一一所采用书院制的高等学府，每位全日制本科生均分别隶属于崇基、新亚、联合、逸夫、晨兴、善衡、和声、敬文或伍宜孙其中一所书院。 学生透过不同书院提供的通识教育、学生宿舍、文娱康乐设施、辅导服务等获得更周到的照顾，对同学的全人发展作用甚大。
