The funding allocated by the Government to the eight universities is mainly for academic development, recurring academic expenses and research purposes. Under Project E, the Government will provide a subsidy of HK$200 million for the student hostel. Additional construction costs will not be covered or subsidised by the Government or the University. Chung Chi College will need to raise these funds independently. The Finance Committee of the College Board of Trustees has agreed to contribute about HK$100 million (this includes the Matching Fund) and allocate another HK$70 million from the Sta Quarters Fund. That is, HK$370 million is currently available for the project. The remaining HK$180 million will need to be raised by Chung Chi College through donations from alumni and the community.
