AI in Education Forum on “Accelerating Learning with AI: Why and Why Not? The Perspective of Educators”

Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) revolutionises the information acquisition process and is transforming the education system by accelerating teaching and learning efficiency. Teachers can ride on AI to streamline their work, generate instructions and personalised feedback, promote engagement, and even integrate it into the subject content, while students can utilise AI to foster creativity. Generative AI has emerged as a game-changer in learners’ behaviour. However, the adoption of generative AI tools in assignments and assessments has become one of the major concerns, prompting universities worldwide to declare their stance about using AI in teaching, learning, and assessments. At CUHK, students may face disciplinary consequences for any unauthorised use of AI in coursework and assessments.

In this forum, teachers across academic disciplines will share their views about adopting AI in their teaching and everyday work. The discussion will particularly focus on the practical and ethical considerations of using or not using AI tools.!
