Innovative methods of assessment and their impact on learning |
|
Facilitator: |
Professor Paul Lam, Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research
|
Detail: |
Assessment is not only a summative tool for teachers to use in judging students and assigning grades. Assessment tasks can also be engaging teaching and learning activities through which students understand their strengths and weaknesses, and learn how to improve.
The talk will focus on alternative assessment methods such as self-assessment, peer-assessment and case-based assessment. These strategies have the potential to facilitate the achievement of high order learning outcomes. A number of these strategies will be illustrated with actual examples from the local Hong Kong context.
