In response to a recommendation of members of the University Grants Committee (UGC) in 2015, the Senate Committee on Teaching and Learning (SCTL) approved at its meeting held on 14 October 2015 to develop an Early Feedback Collection System (EFCS), which has also been discussed and approved by the Dean's Committee, for implementation as a pilot scheme for all undergraduate courses offered in Term 2 of 2015-16.  The SCTL reviewed the pilot data and approved to continue the scheme at its meeting held on 30 October 2017. The SCTL discussed and approved the implementation of the EFCS for postgraduate courses on a regular basis with effect from 2020-21, noting that no opt-out option for the EFCS would be made available with immediate effect at its meeting held on 27 November 2020.

Early Feedback Collection System is designed to capture student feedback on individual classes in the middle of the study term to complement the end-of-term Course and Teaching Evaluation (CTE) exercise.  Students will be asked to provide feedback on the following two questions regarding satisfaction with the courses:

         (a)  What are the best aspects of the course so far?
         (b)  Which aspects are most in need of improvement so far?

In order for issues concerning course delivery, including that of online teaching, to be identified and dealt with in a more timely manner, reports on the feedback collected will be made available for online access or download from the system, in a few days after the feedback collection period, by the relevant course teachers, Programme Directors/Coordinators, Department Chairperson/School Directors and Faculty Deans.

For 2021-22 Term 2, the EFCS is conducted for all undergraduate and postgraduate courses (excluding courses offered only for 4-term postgraduate programmes for this term).

The system will be opened to collect the feedback of students from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm during the period from 21 to 27 February 2022, and then for teachers to review the reports from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm during the period from 1 to 7 March 2022. Here are the login details:

While we will encourage students to provide their feedback, you are invited to encourage your students to provide their feedback from 21 to 27 February, review the reports from 1 to 7 March and, where appropriate, follow up on any feedback for your course(s).
