Dear Members and Friends,
Welcome to the twelfth issue of the Policy Research @ HKIAPS e-Newsletter. We hope that you are well and that this newsletter keeps you updated on our efforts to advance the policy impacts of our colleagues’ academic studies.
Following with the Policy Forum and Policy Research Report on
Building a Sustainable Healthcare System for Hong Kong, the book titled
Building a Sustainable Healthcare System for Hong Kong, edited by Anthony Y. H. Fung and Ben Y. F. Fong, was published in November 2024. This book discusses Hong Kong’s healthcare system from three perspectives, which are Systems Review, Public Health Crisis, and Sustainable and Caring Services. It strengthens the knowledgebase and ideas for building a sustainable healthcare system for Hong Kong by summarising the points of view from academics and professionals.
Apart from the new book, the
Policy Forum on Global Chaozhou People and the Belt and Road Initiative was held successfully on 20 December 2024 in Cho Yiu Hall, CUHK. The forum was organised by Hong Kong Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce, co-organised by Federation of Hong Kong Shantou Community Organizations and supported by Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies. It focused on the activities of Chaozhou people in Hong Kong, encompassing education, economic, cultural heritage and the family office.
Over the past months, our members have also published other
journal articles and
commentaries on various topics, including on sociodemographic changes and well-being, economic growth and distribution, and environmental planning and sustainability. We hope to continue enriching our society and contributing to our collective knowledge and understanding.
Lastly, as the Co-Convenors of Policy Research @ HKIAPS, we would like to extend a warm welcome to new members joining this vibrant platform. We appreciate the continuing collaboration and support of our partners and friends. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and working together on interdisciplinary scholarly exchanges in the future!
Wishing you a happy, healthy, and successful 2025 and Year of the Snake!
