Inter-Regional Forum on Dialectal Grammar
方言語法博學論壇

The Inter-Regional Forum on Chinese Dialectal Grammar (IRF) was initiated by The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Sun Yat-sen University in 2015 and extended its partnership with Fudan University in 2017, which has become an academic event organized rotationally by these three institutions as a platform intended to foster research on dialectal grammar under a comparative approach, focusing on southeastern Chinese dialects like Yue and Wu dialects, to promote inter-regional studies, and to strengthen intellectual exchange and dialogue among researchers from different regions.

The Forum is named Bok2 Hok6 (in Cantonese) or Bóxué (in Mandarin) in Chinese, which literally means "learning extensively". This phrase is both shared by the mottos of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Sun Yat-sen University, and Fudan University and may symbolize a bridge between these three campuses. Under the spirit of learning extensively, it is hoped that the Forum can serve as a platform for comparative Chinese dialectal grammar, fostering innovative ideas in the field of comparative studies.
