INTRODUCTION
The Research Base for Humanities Terminology is a flagship collaborative platform jointly founded by the China National Committee for Terminology in Science and Technology (CNTERM) and the T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre, the Institute of Chinese Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). The key areas of the Research Base focus on (i) terminology analysis and methodology development; (ii) academic exchange and knowledge dissemination; and (iii) application of terminology and advancement of research outcomes. As the first research base established outside the Chinese Mainland by CNTERM, the Research Base, grounded in the study of humanities terminology, is dedicated to advancing the standardization and normalization of linguistic terminology, and to building an independent knowledge system in China. It aims to achieve close alignment with national development planning, fulfilling its mission to promote its integration into and service of the overall national development, and to contribute to enhancing the global influence and dissemination effectiveness of humanities terminology. Underpinning the Research Base is the T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre, originally founded in 1966 as the “Chinese Linguistics Research Centre” and recognized as the oldest research centre at CUHK. Currently, the Centre is dedicated to promoting comparative studies while also emphasizing the translation of the outcomes of basic research into practical applications, exploring frontiers in applied research and interdisciplinary studies.
