Programme Highlights

What our students say...

i

Leader in History Education

The undergraduate programme offered by the History Department at CUHK is a leader in the field of history education in Hong Kong. Its origin can be traced back to the History Programme offered by New Asia College in the late 1940s. The founder of New Asia College, Professor Ch’ien Mu, a renowned scholar in Chinese History, also headed the Department of Chinese History and Literature of the College at that time.

Seeing History from Different Perspectives

The programme allows students to see Chinese History through the eyes of the world, and world history through the eyes of China. The curriculum integrates Eastern and Western learning with thorough understanding of the historical development and the changes from the past to the present.

iii

Practical Experience and Global Exposure

Students have opportunities to gain practical experience working in a variety of organisations through a series of internship programmes. Students can also join study tours to the mainland of China, Taiwan and overseas regions to broaden their perspectives. In addition, they can participate in a variety of University-organised exchange programmes, including short visits to or studies at universities in the UK, the US, Japan and elsewhere.

For Category C: Other Language subjects, Grade A = 5 / Grade B = 4 / Grade C = 3 / Grade D = 2 / Grade E = 1).

Note 2: In the admission process, some programmes may have additional requirements (such as specifying subject requirements, assigning heavier weighting to specific subjects, etc.) which are NOT reflected in the Total Reference Score above.

Note 3: Please note that as admission is NOT based on public examination results alone, and the overall scores of students admitted to each programme vary from year to year, the information provided is for reference only, and should not be used to predict the chance of admission to any programme in subsequent years.
