Dear all,

We are sad to inform you that our beloved Rev. Carl Smith (施其樂牧師) passed away in Macau on 4th April 2008, at the age of 90. 
 
Rev. Smith served our School (Theology Division) for 37 years from 1962 to 1999 as our lecturer, part-time lecturer and Honorary Research Associate. He taught courses in the field of Christianity in Hong Kong for our students from 1968 to 1977 and continued to stay with us as our Honorary Research Associate until September 1999. During this period of time, he also helped teaching as our part-time lecturer in some academic terms. The last course he taught to our students was in the 2nd term of the academic year 1996-1997.

Rev. Smith has done extensive research on the history of Hong Kong, Macau and China's coastal cities from the mid 19th century onward. His collection is an invaluable resource that has made remarkable contribution to the field of historical studies.

We have a lot of valuable memories with Rev. Smith. We value his contributions to our School very much. We believe he is now resting at peace with our Heavenly Father. Let us pray that our Lord would console his family.
