Accommodation

Here are some tips for accommodation for those staying in the University Guest House

  1. Check-in and check-out time
You may check-in the University Guest House after 1 pm. Check-out time is on 12 noon.
  1.  Internet Services
The Guest House provides wired LAN Internet service in all rooms, but there is no Wi-Fi coverage. The Guest House will provide LAN cord upon request.

Wi-Fi is available in other parts of the CUHK campus and we will provide you with a login ID and password on the morning of 17 January when you register.

  1. Sockets in Hong Kong the 3-prong British type or Type G/BS 1363 (see the photo below) so you will need to purchase a travel adapter. The voltage in Hong Kong is 220-240V/50Hz. Most modern computer devices are rated for 110V-240V/50Hz-60Hz (V = volts), but smaller appliances may not be, so please check your device. YOU CANNOT PLUG IN A LOWER VOLTAGE APPLIANCE (e.g. 120V) INTO a higher voltage outlet without a step-up transformer converter! It will fry your device and be a potential fire hazard!

  1. Food and Necessities

Generally speaking, the canteens at the campus open from 8am to 8pm. If you arrive earlier on 17 January, you may want to go to the canteens at the Benjamin Franklin Centre. If you wish to grab some snacks after that, you may want to go to the Women Workers’ Corporation for some Hong Kong style dumplings and cakes, which is open until 11pm. The Women Workers’ Corporation is located near to the swimming pool under the Benjamin Franklin Centre.

Furthermore, there is a supermarket, Park n’Shop, which is open from 8:30am to 9pm located under the Benjamin Franklin Centre. It is small but you should be able to obtain basic necessities there.

The Guest House provides free breakfast every morning. If you wish to eat elsewhere, you may go to Chung Chi Tang (the student canteen of Chung Chi College). It is 3 min walk from the YIA (the forum venue).

There is also a Maxim 美心集團restaurant and several shops on the other side of University Station.
