學院創辦首年僅有學生 �� 名和老師 �� 名，創 校初年借用港島聖約翰大禮拜堂及聖保羅男 女中學上課。其後再租賃堅道 ��� 號樓房及下 亞厘畢道之聖公會霍約瑟紀念堂為校址。 蒙香港政府在新界馬料水撥贈土地一段，面 積共計十英畝，並於其地增建火車站（現名 為大學站），本校乃於 ���� 年遷至環境優美 的新界馬料水村永久校址。���� 年，香港中文 大學成立，崇基遂成為三成員學院之一。 Chung Chi College was founded in October 1951 by the representatives of Protestant Churches in Hong Kong to meet the need for a local institution of higher learning. It aimed to continue the long and rich educational tradition of the 13 former Christian Colleges and Universities in mainland China. 鑑於五十年代初期香港社會對中文高等教育之需要，崇基學院於 ���� 年 �� 月由香港基督教教會代表創辦，以繼 承國內十三間前基督教大學的辦學理念。 The College had a very modest beginning, with only 63 students and 10 teachers in its rst year. It was housed in borrowed or rented premises, rst in St.John’s Cathedral Hall and St. Paul’s Co-educational College on Hong Kong Island, and later at No. 147 Caine Road and in the Bishop Hoare Memorial Building on Lower Albert Road. In 1956, the College moved to its current site in the beautiful Ma Liu Shiu Valley in the New Territories.
