What is MASS?

A collaboration between the Office of University General Education and the CUHK Library

MASS

Every book carries mass. Its mass arises from the ideas therein and the concerted efforts devoted by the author and the editor.

Every reading experience carries mass. We can feel its gravity from a broadened horizon and a wiser mind of the reader.

Every reader carries mass. We can see a day when the aggregate number of active readers on our campus has reached a critical mass that everyone will be captivated by this ambience of reading.

Students want to read. MASS mentors will lead.

Many CU students love reading. They can find a great treasure in the bookshelves when going to the library.

However, the treasure is so huge that students cannot find the entrance. We teachers should not let our dear students down.

What they need is encouragement and guidance from teachers, and also peer support.

Our goal

Our goal is simple and precise:

MASS is to provide students with a rich and meaningful reading experience that is facilitated by knowledgeable and supportive MASS mentors.
