Let’s Embrace Diversity at the University!
Welcome back to the ever new campus! As the new term has started, the cultural diversity activities are in store to bring
you different experiences and excitement. If you still have no clue about how to enjoy your new campus life to the full, the
following cultural events coordinated by the Incoming Students Section (ISS) of the Office of Student Affairs may help.
CLOVER: Community + Local & Overseas students +
Volunteers = Everlasting Relationships
Cultural exchange is not just confined to campus. The
CLOVER programme defines the positive results of having it
happen in the Hong Kong community. As a cultural diversity
cum voluntary service programme allowing local and non-
local students to provide voluntary service in the local
community together, CLOVER attracted over 570 students
to join in the past six years and has been an I•CARE
programme sponsored project for five consecutive years.
After six years of running, CLOVER has kept evolving with
new elements added. This year’s CLOVER is organized by
the “Friends of CLOVER” comprising of past participants.

Internationalization Activity Fund:
Substantial support for internationalization activities
The financial support of funding undoubtedly facilitates
students to organize their activities. Since 2013, a total
of 37 student activities have been supported by the
Internationalization Activity Fund, which translated students’
creative ideas of promoting internationalization and
cultural integration into action. The wide variety of student-
initiated activities did not only enhance cultural interaction
on campus, but also spiced up students’ university life.
The Fund is open for application throughout the year. The
maximum amount of support for each application is capped
at $10,000.

CUHK Host Family Programme:
A familial, cross cultural bond
Debuted in 2013, the CUHK Host Family Programme has
been a regular programme to enhance cultural exchange
between non-local CUHK students and the University staff
as well as for the students to experience the lifestyle of
Hong Kong. Over the past two years, close to 150 students
and 90 staff members have become friends from complete
strangers after joining this programme. Not only the staff,
but also their families extended the warm hospitality to the
students and made them feel at home.

just opened! The i-LOUNGE, jointly managed by the ISS and
the Taskforce for Enhancing International Bonding on Campus

Students can be exposed to various cultural experiences, both
casual and formal, in a relaxed atmosphere.
Regular events, such as informal discussion forums, seminars
and sharing sessions are organized by international students
and different student groups, including those awarded the
Internationalization Activity Fund. For those who look for
something more academic, they have every reason to attend
