Summary of the project outcomes and deliverables

The project deliverables broadly improve one’s professional and reflective practice, which is fully compatible for adaptation in courses within and outside of the Faculty of Education. Within the Faculty of Education, those courses consisting of components related to micro-teaching, lesson planning, and lesson implementation can make use of the demonstration videos (made by course teachers), the student-made videos for practicing and applying certain concepts learned, and exemplary videos as chosen by the course teachers to facilitate video-based reflection. In addition, those courses outside the Faculty of Education that focus on attending to fine details (e.g. lab demonstrations, human interactions, and step-by-step instructions) can apply the developed video-based pedagogy and assessment strategies to facilitate students’ reflective practices, thereby enhance student learning, as well as generate in-class or out-of-class discussions upon presenting a certain theory or practice.

Reflection on outcomes of activities carried out and deliverables

Our initial data show that students in the Faculty benefit from these videos, as they engaged in professional noticing and analyzed these videos in fine details, related and applied the pedagogies and theories learnt, reflected on their learning individually, engaged in meaningful discussions and collaborations in- and out-of-class to grow as a community. These initial findings demonstrate that we are on track with our project objectives and we aim to continue to investigate the impact of video-modules and video-based reflections on our students’ professional development.
