Key Performance Indicators and Evaluation

Summary of the evaluation plan and deliverables

We aim to evaluate the project through students’ multimedia-based reflective assignments to assess their comprehension of their course learning; student-made (individually and collectively) video-annotation to assess their professional noticing and their application of their course learning; an online survey to acquire students’ feedback and comments about their learning experiences; and ongoing semi-structured discussions with course instructors and students to receive feedback and comments about their teaching and learning experience. The project members from various disciplines also collaborate and share their best practices about the use of videos in their courses to strengthen the communication of pedagogical success in the Faculty. These collaborations and discussions will result in the documentation and dissemination of successful cases, good practices and activities, deliverables, and/or outcomes, and the sharing of the project experience and outcomes.

Reflection on evaluation plan

At this time, we are on track with our project goals. We collected students’ video-based written reflections and applied the RICAP framework to evaluate these reflections and their professional noticing using the video modules. Our initial data show that these video modules are effective for engaging students in reflective practices and developing their professional skills. In particular, these video modules facilitated peer discussions and assessment, thereby facilitated students’ development both individually and collectively. We presented some of our initial data at the CUHK Community of Practice Symposium of Education Innovation and Technology 2022. We aim to continue to develop these video modules and the RICAP framework to create better assessment strategies. We have also been conducting regular semi-structured discussions with course instructors and students to receive their feedback and comments about their teaching and learning experience. Also as planned, we also provided opportunities to collaborate between members from various disciplines in the Faculty.
