Starting in 2012, each of the undergraduate programmes at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (‘CUHK’ / 'the University’) will take four years to complete instead of three. To cater for the expected increase in student numbers and to provide students with more freedom of choice, the University has established five new small colleges. This decision acknowledges the fuller interactions that come about when people live and learn together on a smaller scale.

Among these colleges is S.H. Ho College, founded in 2006. It has been planned as a distinctive new home away from home for a generation of students that will benefit from following a richer and more extensive curriculum. At the same time, the College will be attentive to tried and tested traditions of whole person education and responsible pastoral care.

S.H. Ho College, which receives generous support from the S.H. Ho Foundation, will eventually accommodate 600 students. The first 160 student members of the college will come into residence in August 2010.

A fully residential college which is centred on regular communal dining, S.H. Ho College seeks above all to provide its members with a welcoming environment they can call home.

Life at S.H. Ho College is a carefully planned mix of pastoral care and counselling, General Education programmes, international exchanges, community service, and a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities. The College offers many different scholarships and bursaries.
