2. Master of Ministry (M.Min.) Degree Programmes of SEAGST

The Master of Ministry (M.Min.) is introduced to help aspiring pastors, church workers and laity to develop and enhance Christian ministry in relevant manners in their contexts. M.Min. is designed to be praxis-oriented. It focuses on biblical studies, Christian education, pastoral studies, missiology, Christian counselling, sacred music and worship.

 

1. Entrance Requirements¡G

(1) A Bachelor¡¦s degree in theological studies. Applicants having a Bachelor degree in other disciplines and have obtained diploma in theological studies or equivalent may also apply.

(2) At least 2 years of (voluntary) service at church and a recommendation from the church.

(3) Candidates without minimum qualification but who have relevant professional experience and have taken specialized courses may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

2. Period of Study¡G

Full time mode: normally 2 years, not exceeding 3 years

Part time mode: normally 4 years, not exceeding 6 years

3. Study Scheme¡G

The total number of units required for graduation is 42 units. Detailed study scheme is as follows:

(1) Core courses (9 units)

A total of 9 units should be taken from core courses. Choose at most one course from each pair of the following courses (i ¡V iv)

(i) ¡§Pastoral Theology¡¨ or ¡§Pastoral Care in Context¡¨

(ii) ¡§The Church in Mission¡¨ or ¡§Issues facing Churches Today¡¨

(iii) ¡§Christianity in Hong Kong¡¨ or ¡§Christianity in China¡¨

(iv) ¡§Contemporary Spirituality¡¨ or ¡§Denominational Tradition and Polity¡¨

(2) Area of concentration (21 units)

A total of 21 units should be taken from a chosen area of study. The areas of study are:

Area 1: Worship and Sacred Music

Area 2: Pastoral Studies

Area 3: Mission

Area 4: Christian Education

Area 5: Christian Counselling

Area 6: Biblical Studies

(3) Other electives (12 units)

A total of 12 units should be taken from other courses listed in core courses and areas of study.
